RCN races are a combination of consistency and speed because of the type of laps you need to complete. There are "reference" laps and sprint laps. In reference laps you need to set a time that is within 10 seconds of your first lap. Per every second that you are too fast or too slow in your reference lap you get 10 penalty seconds. This is how this particular race looked like:

It is thereby always a tricky decision to decide who is going to drive which stint, one with one more reference (confirmation) lap or one with more sprint laps? A slower driver can be 10 seconds/lap slower, dropping the pace to -60 seconds overall, but missing one single reference lap by 10 seconds means you get a 100 seconds penalty!

To help the driver orientate/remember what (type of) lap he is on, you use the tear-off paper strips on the dash board. A stopwatch (on the steering wheel) is more trustworthy than an average laptimer (GPS or hardware issues). Contact with the pits (me pushing the Push To Talk button on the steering wheel) is a big advantage to help you remember the reference points and erase your doubts about the lap you may be on.
