How to Raise Chickens for Meat - Part 5: Culling a Weak Bird

When raising animals, especially meat chickens, there may come the time when you have to harvest an animal before 'it's time.' Maybe this is because they are sick or perhaps they were injured. Either way, it is hard to know when to make that decision.
In our case, one of our broilers lost the ability to use it's legs. There was no immediately apparent reason for this - perhaps it is bad genetics or maybe it's body mass outpaced it's leg development.
We believe that we have been made stewards of God's creation, so it is our responsibility to ensure that these animals have the best life possible on this farm. When that ceases to be the case, it is time to harvest them.
