Many people tend to remember the heroics of D-day and the Normandy landings, and who can blame them. It was an incredibly intricate and detailed campaign that could have gone abysmally wrong if the pieces had not fallen in the right place. As we all know though, the pieces did indeed fall in the right place and the landing was an ultimate success, however there are many gritty and unglamourous details that lay in between the allied victory in France, and the men of the 2nd Battalion of the 29th Infantry division were unfortunate enough to fall into this category.
