Jim Rohn was an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. He was born in 1930 in Yakima, Washington, and grew up on a farm in Caldwell, Idaho. He started his professional career working for Sears and then got involved with direct selling of nutrition products. He was mentored by John Earl Shoaff, one of the founders of Nutri-Bio, and became one of the largest distributors of the company. He also became vice-president of the organization when it expanded to Canada.

He became a public speaker in 1963, after being invited to speak at his Rotary Club. He went on to present seminars across the country and around the world, teaching his personal development philosophy. He influenced many people, including Mark Hughes, the founder of Herbalife, Tony Robbins, the life strategist, and Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, the authors of the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. He also co-wrote the novel Twelve Pillars with Chris Widener.

He received the CPAE award from the National Speakers Association for his excellence in speaking. He is the author of 17 books, audios and videos, including The Power of Ambition, Take Charge of Your Life and The Day That Turns Your Life Around. He died of pulmonary fibrosis in 2009, at the age of 79.

But his teachings will live forever.
