ROAD TRIP TIME!! But it’s SO HARD to leave.

Show of hands if you're ready for something new? I know we sure are. Over the last year, Ted and I have tried to be good stewards of balancing our family life, his day job and working at the project house.

As you know, this drywall job has about done us in, because in true DIY fashion, things tend to take longer than planned. But, we’ve also had a road trip planned to Branson, MO with friends and the kids for months. At the time of planning, we *thought* we had plenty of time to get this project done before we left, but as the date approached we began to realize that we were not going to meet our goal of finishing before we left. It became increasingly difficult to keep from being stressed and feeling defeated about not meeting our goals. Satan is a master of taking those thoughts and using them as opportunities to make us question Gods plan. In those moments all it takes is saying, “I trust you, Lord.” and it always helps to get us back in the right mindset.

Once we hit the road, we focused on making the most of our trip, and that we did! It felt felt so good to leave the snow behind and feel the warm breeze our face. This was the first road trip we’ve done with the kids and they are great road warriors! We had a blast checking out Bass Pro Shop, exploring caves and waterfalls, hiking, finding great eats and live music, and ultimately just enjoying being outside as much as possible. Our trip was short but a much needed break from the cold, snow and project house.

Once we got home we jumped right back into setting new goals and coming back to the project with fresh eyes and rested bodies.
Ultimately we learned how important it is to prioritize and cherish time with our kids and to always trust Gods plan, instead of letting worry, stress and unmet deadlines steal our joy. Life is just too short for that nonsense.
