-Parking & Pedestrian Safety in the Village Center Proposed Highway Facilities Relocation

00:18:01 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I understand that many of the vehicles/equipment have sophisticated operating systems that are computerized and therefore need to be properly maintained in environmentally-controlled buildings. Is this correct, and if so, can the existing structure ensure that the equipment/vehicles are protected? If not, can you estimate how many thousands of dollars are used to either fix or maintain such equipment because it is not being properly stored?
00:20:32 Matt: there are very very few municipalities that can fit all of their equipment inside. most equipment such as loaders, backhoes, and graders live their life outside and are designed to live that way.
00:21:27 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I would like an answer to my questions, please.
00:37:21 Matt: wilton, milford, nashua, and manchester have equipment sitting outside. you can look are all of their highway garages on google maps and see equipment outside.
00:37:33 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I am not asking about all the equipment/vehicles; simply the more sensitive ones with computerized equipment. Can we guarantee proper storage now? If not, how much money do we spend needlessly because of improper storage? I think it's a reasonable question and I'm probably not the first to ask, so apologies if this has already been answered.
00:39:22 Matt: the computers in the equipment are designed to be outside. They are trying to make it sound as though the computers in all of the equipment isnt the same as you have in your car or truck that you own
00:39:26 Steve: The equipment is built to be outside and working outside .
00:41:46 Gretchen Whitcomb: Is estimated total cost 600-800K + the $277K for site work? Or is that $277K included in the $600-800K?
00:42:05 Gretchen Whitcomb: What is the cost to maintain the current garage?
00:42:16 Mary Beth Ayvazian: But while the equipment sits idly, there is a certain amount of environmental exposure that affects it; certainly most people understand this. I simply want to understand how much maintenance $ is spent on maintenance because of this exposure?
00:43:34 Fred: Please take the PP down so we can see the room
00:45:26 Matt: Mary Beth the equipment and the computers inside of them are designed for the elements whether or not they are being used or not. Just as if you didnt drive your vehicle for a month, the computer is just fine.
00:46:06 Matt: I work on them for a living.
00:46:16 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I want to know how much is spent on maintenance because of outdoor storage. is that too difficult of a question to answer? I believe it is germane to this discussion.
00:46:56 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I know my vehicle is affected because it sits outside idly in NH climate.
00:48:22 Google Pixel 7 Pro: zoom is excellent thank you!
00:49:37 Matt: I would like to know why they say “there are environmental and health issues for employees, making it difficult to hire and retain personnel.” ? But they don’t mention that it is most likely due to the lack of pay.
00:49:49 Mary Beth Ayvazian: He is helping to answer my question...the current speaker. Awesome!
00:50:59 Matt: The emissions systems on the trucks (probes and sensors) are designed for the elements. The reason they need repairs is due to either lack of maintenance or improper operation.
00:51:13 Mary Beth Ayvazian: How much to maintain equipment because it is outside or not properly maintained? Has anyone estimated this?
00:52:01 Scott Hecker: When the audience wishes to ask a question they should stay their name first before the question.
00:52:37 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I am Mary Beth Ayvazian and have asked the same two questions for the entire presentation.
00:52:42 Steve: the most expensive equipment we have is maintained by Caterpiller.
00:55:11 Gretchen Whitcomb: Gretchen Whitcomb - The cost estimates you have for moving are fine. What is the cost to update and maintain our current location?
00:55:38 Steve: great question
00:58:52 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Yes!
00:59:11 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Thank you, Nate!
00:59:49 Steve: nice job Nate. the equipment is built to be outside
00:59:56 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Good question, Nate!
01:00:40 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Steve, I want to know how much we would save by proper storage. I don't think you know, but Tim Fiske is answering it now!!!!
01:01:37 Mary Beth Ayvazian: I believed that was true which is why I asked the question!
01:01:49 Mary Beth Ayvazian: We need proper storage of the equipment.
01:02:02 Matt: Matt Ayers - Route 45 - I would like to know why it was put out that the “Environmental and heath issues for employees, making it difficult to hire and retain personnel” But don’t mention anything about the lack of pay.
01:02:09 Mary Beth Ayvazian: IT SAVES MONEY.
01:02:24 Steve: When we store equipment that means its not being used. So do we need the equipment or not. The equipment is supposed to be working, That's outside right?
01:02:39 Matt: it wont save that much money.
01:02:53 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Nice try, Steve, but what Tim says and Kent verified makes the most sense.
01:02:58 Google Pixel 7 Pro: consider solar parking structures like ashburnham.. Rob Wills.. RE Task Force. Grant funding probably available
01:03:20 Mary Beth Ayvazian: It's common sense.
01:03:21 Tiffany Hoey: Tiffany Hoey - Why have we only seen one property, and not the other two that were discussed in previous sessions? We aren't being shown all options in this presentation. Also, the idea of reaching out to the traffic bureau to do a traffic study was never done, isn't that free due to the 'safety' risks that are mentioned on the flyer? Lastly, if we have run off issues of where it is located now, I don't see how moving it to cross a direct watershed path that leads to a reservoir is going to help- I'd think the townspeople would want a proper presentation on how to prevent further issues from expressing from the hwy dept.
01:03:48 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Good point, Tiffany.
01:04:27 Gretchen Whitcomb: The report attached to this meeting is here: https://www.templenh.org/sites/g/files/vyhlif5071/f/news/tluc_summary_report_final_2_17_23.pdf
01:05:11 Steve: So MB. Lets just park the equipment in a brand new building so it doesn't get old. And what does the work. And by the way Kent didn't agree with anything.
01:05:22 Laura Lynch: While Sitting out there during one of the elections I watched an 18 wheeler come around that curve and almost take out three cars. The trucks coming out of the parking lot is also dangerous . Especially when there is an event going on. I believe there is a safety problem where it is.
01:06:29 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Kent stated that the equipment needs proper environmental controls. Apparently, you did not comprehend this.
01:07:33 Matt: Mary Beth, Steve and i work on these vehicles for a living. I would like to think we know what we are talking about.
01:10:24 Steve: MB. I sure my diesel, auto, equipment certifications can do their own talking
01:18:31 Matt: so the flier that was mailed out was filled with false information?
01:21:06 Steve: It was stated on the outdoor town meeting that the reason to move the highway garage was to build a new historical museum. What's going to take the place of the Hwy garage and what are those cost?
01:21:44 Matt: Steve you have to say your name before your question or they wont ask it
01:25:18 Google Pixel 7 Pro: 121 Central St

ashburnham solar parking
01:27:50 Mary A: It appears that to provide what the Highway Dept needs ie., Coverage for all equipment, Up to code heating, system, etc. and the current site is not big enough to accomidate this & still allow for tractor trailers to deliver sand.
01:35:57 Steve: MB you think Kent is still on board?
01:36:34 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Steve, did you really listen?
01:37:27 Matt: When im out plowing I eat in my plow truck.
01:38:40 Matt: thats because their garage caught on fire
01:38:51 Mary Beth Ayvazian: BTW, I don't believe that Kent is advocating for one side or the other; he is simply stating facts, and his statements do not favor one side or the other. I don't either. I simply want answers so that I can make an intelligent decisionvis-a-via voting.
01:41:43 Steve: There was a 480)K building proposed in 2000. Failed and still not needed.
01:42:03 Heidi Thibodeau: 30K is better thank 277K to get the land all "shovel ready" and decide no
01:44:26 Mary Beth Ayvazian: Thank you, Tim Fiske! You have always been the best of temple.
01:44:30 Google Pixel 7 Pro: thank you all
01:44:46 Gretchen Whitcomb: Thank you
