A powerful tornado tore through west Little Rock in Arkansas on Friday afternoon and caused widespread damage.

Footage shows the tornado's aftermath, which includes collapsed homes, damaged and flipped cars, uprooted trees, and the destroyed property of residents walking along debris.

According to Olivia Tracy, a local resident, she had been working on her computer when it suddenly started flickering, which made her concerned. She and her boss looked out the window and observed the tornado coming towards them, following this, they sought refuge in the bathroom.

"It was probably right over the highway when we saw it. We went to the bathroom; we shut the bathroom door, and you could hear the windows breaking," Olivia recalled.

The governor of Arkansas declared a state of emergency after the first tornado hit near Little Rock at around 15:00 local time (20:00 GMT).

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed two people have died in Wynne, Arkansas, and Pulaski County officials confirm one death in North Little Rock. According to Frank Scott Jr., the mayor of Little Rock, over 2,000 homes were damaged, and at least 30 people were hospitalized.
