Shortly before 11:30 P.M. Friday, Officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 4400 block of 71st Street in the Colonial Manor neighborhood.

The Family tells PSN they were attending a vigil for another young man when an argument erupted; then shots were fired. Neighbors stated they heard two volleys of gunfire with at least twenty shots. According to bystanders, the victim was struck multiple times in the upper body. When officers arrived, they rendered aid immediately; however, the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
According to radio reports, a white Accura, was stopped related to the incident. Bystanders tell PSN that the occupants of that Acura were attempting to load the shooting victim into that vehicle.

The Sacramento Police Department released the following statement at 11:30 A.M. Saturday:
On March 31, 2023, just after 11:23 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 4400 block of 71st Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 29-year-old male, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures however the male was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department.
Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The investigation is in the early stages and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
