SAN ANGELO, TX — With big names like the Wright family and Tuf Cooper, everyone thought Rodeo Royalty would win the competition on Saturday afternoon. Instead, the young guns took the day. From Jessie to Spencer to Stu Wright, the crowd expected the Cowboys to prevail. The Broncos had other ideas. “Texas Tough,” “I’m a Winner,” and “Honeymoon” stole the show when they bucked their riders to the dirt. One bull rider delivered a masterful performance when he made hanging on to the back of a 1500-pound monster look like a breeze. Koby Radley from Holden, Louisiana, took 1st place when he scored an 86 in Saturday’s Matinee’s only qualifying bull ride. Despite Radley’s showing, the performance of the day has to go to Brushdon Minton in the Tie Down. Minton ran down, roped, and wrangled his steer in 7.6 seconds. San Angelo LIVE!’s Matt Trammell tracked down Minton after his event to ask him how he felt about climbing the ranks to tie for 1st place. Watch the full interview here. The following is Tie Down Roping, presented by the Clarion Hotel.
