As a leader, listen to your people. Ask them how they are doing and actively listen to what they tell you.

By considering others view points on how they are thinking about a situation and then mentally placing yourself into their situation, you will gain insight that will help you ask better questions. Sometimes it is difficult to talk with people when you cannot directly relate to their situation. A big part of being a leader is not just considering others and their situations, you must inquire and follow up with active listening to ensure you address the needs of your people.
