Senator Ted Cruz tried to pass a unanimous bill after the tragic Uvalde shooting. It would have freed up billions of dollars for schools to use however they saw fit to help secure their schools. The funds were already allocated to the schools, and this would not have cost the tax payers anymore dollars. Schools would have had massive amounts of money to use on anything from counselors, to armed guards to protect the schools. If this bill would have passed, it's likely that the school in Tennessee would have had more security. It's likely that they would have even been able to prevent the tragedy that just happened. The bill was voted down by Democrat, Chris Murphy. What was completely unprecedented about this was Chris Murphy gave zero reasons why he voted to veto the bill. This type of action is completely historic in the history of the house. Typically a veto vote will be followed as to why it is being vetoed. The Democrats did no such thing this time. It appears they felt so smug, like they didn't have to justify why more money to schools to protect the children would be a bad thing.

Sadly, we are now here. With another shooting, and more lives lost.
