In 1993 the Commodore 64 basically ended. With more than 10 years on the Market (starting in 1982), it had become one of the biggest selling Home Computers and Games consoles ever made.
It had seen it's games going from typical early 80's 8-bit to almost16-bit quality later on. Other, better, machines took over; the natural way of things.

Occasionally a game would be released here and there like the Metal Warrior series, but nothing else. The platform was dead.

Then something happened. Around 2004-2005 , a few noticeable releases started to appear. Every following year after that the amount of releases seemed to steadily grow. Around 2011 even more games were coming out, and it became apparent that 'Retro machines' were generally coming back into fashion somewhat; even some magazines started to appear around this phenomenon.

These last couple of years has seen some big commercial releases and it doesn't seem to stop yet. Around 50 games a year are being released now; full price, budget and in Public Domain. One could argue that the C64 has made a comeback, be it as original hardware, the C64 Mini or emulated. Great times indeed.
