The Indian-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace is reportedly negotiating a $200 million deal with the Indonesian Defense Ministry to supply supersonic missiles, according to industry sources and media reports.

The missiles, named after the Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers, can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms and are considered one of the fastest and most precise cruise missiles in the world. They have a range of up to 400 kilometers and can carry conventional or nuclear warheads.

BrahMos Aerospace was established in 1998 as a joint venture between India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyenia. The company has produced and exported the BrahMos missile system to several countries, including India, Russia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The reported deal with Indonesia comes amid growing tensions in the region, with China's assertive maritime claims and military build-up raising concerns among its neighbors. Indonesia, the largest archipelagic nation in the world, has a long coastline and vast territorial waters, and has been upgrading its defense capabilities to counter potential threats.
