Message 518: "Blood is Thicker Than Water"

There is an old saying that I have heard since I was a child; "Blood is thicker than water." It was always spoken to mean that family ancestry was the strongest tie there is as blood is stronger than any other tie--water. Every time I have heard it said it was in the context of family ties are the strongest of all bonds. However, that is completely opposite of its original meaning. The original quote comes from an old proverb that says: “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” What does this mean and what does that have to do with the mission of Christ?
