In the final issue of Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man, a new and supernatural-looking Spider-Woman teams up with Spider-Man to save all of reality. Spider-Man has a new partner swinging into action with him in the form of the nightmarish hero Dream-Spider. Spider-Man has had numerous Spider-People team up with him over hte years including Miles Morales, Agent Venom and Spider-Ham. But this new heroine is introduced in Spider-Man’s strangest adventure through a hellscape dreamworld. Fans are sure to wonder if they will see more of this psychedelic Spider-Woman. The fifth and final issue of 2022's Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man introduces readers to the brand-new Dream-Spider. The series, created by B. Earl, Juan Ferreyra, and Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, sees Peter Parker find a mysterious black rock that transports him into a nightmare world at random. Peter’s research partner, Crystal Catawnee, joins him in the nightmare world to uncover the secrets of the mysterious rock that has now symbiotically bonded with Spider-Man. Peter defeats the rock/symbiote creature in the dream world but as it explodes and scatters, the remains of the symbiote cling to their new host: Crystal. Spider-Man's friend and love interest Crystal becomes Dream-Spider, a new and symbiotic take on the classic webslinger. As Peter and Crystal traverse through these hellish dimensions, they realize that they are not bound by the limits of reality, which gives birth to Crystal’s new Spider form. Dream-Spider has all of the abilities of Spider-Man with a few added bonuses to distance herself from the original. Her demonic claw hands work wonders for slicing and destroying monsters in the dream world. Also, thanks to the mysterious rock symbiote, Dream-Spider can also grow into a giant, summon a swarm of crows from her wrists instead of webs, and she can fly. Peter, on the other hand, couldn’t control his bloodlust in the dream world when he bonded with the symbiote. The symbiotic artifact brings out the worst in Peter Parker’s attitude. Within the dream world where nothing is off limits, Spider-Man feels the chains are finally off and no authority figures or critics can hold back his true power. His amplified strength in the nightmares allows Spider-Man to kill demonic versions of the Avengers such as the Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor. Like Carnage and Venom, Peter tears through his enemies and revels in the bloodshed and chaos, which turns Spidey’s nightmare form even more savage. Thankfully, Peter has Crystal to remind him of his heroic nature, and she knows the value of self-control in the dream world. That’s why Crystal never succumbs to the bloodlust and rage of the symbiote, due to her pacifist and kind personality. Spider-Man and Dream-Spider make a Great Team Spider-Man and Dream-Spider escape the nightmares and team up to face their deadliest adversary. The Demon Bear that has been haunting Peter’s dreams during his journeys in L.A. has come to destroy the web-slinger and his radical-looking partner. During the battle, Dream-Spider maintains control of her new abilities while Peter coaches her on how Spider-Man would handle this situation. This dream Spiderverse team combines their genius intellects and their superhuman abilities to send the demon beast back to the nightmare realm. Though it looks like Crystal’s run as Spider-Woman is a one and done deal, hopefully fans and Spider-Man have not seen the last of Dream-Spider.
