MZTV 1181: The Two Different Ways God Fulfills His Intention

As believers in the sovereignty of God, we constantly emphasize that even those who resist God's revealed will fulfill His intention. And this is true. But what we oftentimes fail to emphasize is that a body of people given greater doses of the spirit than the majority of humanity also fulfill His intention by living in accord with His revealed will.

Says our apostle in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, " In everything be giving thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." While it is important to emphasize that God's oftentimes hidden intention is always fulfilled even by those who hate God, we cannot use this monumental truth to obscure the fact that God's REVEALED will is the ideal for humanity.

I have seen too many occasions where members of the body of Christ come very close to touting the darker aspects of God's intention—for instance, causing the priesthood to murder His Son—as the BEST thing, thus elevating crime as "the desire of God's heart." God Himself avoids this misrepresentation by everywhere announcing the good that He designs for His people, not only in the above quoted verse, but in places such as 1 Thessalonians 4:11, where God implores us (through Paul) to "lead a mild and quiet life." That some of us will NOT lead a mild a quiet life speaks to a fulfillment of God's hidden intention, yes, but the darker aspects of God's hidden intention ought NEVER to be confused with His nature as a God of good.

For mature audiences only.
