There are many gay people in Russia starting with Putin and others but they dont want to admit it and now it works to be against LGBT because LGBT is (very) exagerated in the "West". I am preety sure that if tommorow the West will get very conservative (like Poland for example), Putin will say something bad about that also as he crossed words with Poland as well.
