The arrest of American journalist Evan Gershkovich has sparked tensions between the U.S. and Russia. Washington appears to be planning a strong response to Russia's action. The U.S. State Department has even requested that its citizens leave Russia 'immediately.' Slamming the crackdown, Washington called it the Kremlin's attempt to intimidate and repress. These remarks came after an American reporter for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Evan Gershkovich, was arrested in Russia on espionage charges. Russia claims that the U.S. journalist was working as a spy and was trying to obtain Moscow's classified information.
