In the case of the ‘Brooklyn Head Hunter', as he came to be known at least two motives were ruled out. The girls had not been assaulted and robbery appeared unlikely since all of the torsos were nude. All of them wore either rings or earrings of some considerable value. The most tantalising question of all was since the bodies kept being recovered, where were the heads?.
