When the IRS Comes Knocking at Your Door What are you Going to DO? Know your RIGHTS!
This video shows how the IRS reaches out to educate taxpayers and the different circumstances in which they may initiate direct contact. The IRS provides multiple payment options, including payment plans and online agreements, for people who owe taxes to help them meet their obligations. We also learn that taxpayers may receive multiple letters from the IRS and that most IRS contacts with taxpayers are through regular mail. However, there are limited circumstances when the IRS comes to a home or business as part of a collection investigation, audit, or ongoing criminal investigation. We are introduced to the different types of IRS civil enforcement employees, such as Revenue Officers and Revenue Agents, who work to resolve compliance issues and help taxpayers become and remain compliant with the tax laws. Finally, the section provides information on reporting impersonation scams to the IRS.
