This song by Leslie Fish was given a Pegasus award in 2002 and as discussed in this post (with comment from Leslie) explains that it also received a Special Prometheus Award in 2014 paired with Leslie's novella 'Tower of Horses':

An interview with Leslie (@lesliefish_filk ) on the song and Darkover:

Most people will know the Julia Ecklar recording of this song. But I was inspired by Debora Van Heyningen's fabulous singing in the Filk Ontario circle on the weekend to have a go at this monster myself.

I loved Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon series, but have not read any of the Darkover series.

Apart from a few word shuffles in the recording of 13+ minutes, my only big frustration is a single line that I missed in one of the verses. Being 13 minutes, I wasn't up for a second take.

If anyone has a recording of Leslie singing this, please let me know so I can link it.

A recording of Leslie here (thanks to Eli Goldberg for pointing me in the right direction):
