Fairness in Australia With “Bridge Climb” Obama

Former President Obama recently came to Australia for his “An Evening with President Obama” speaking tour. He did some touristy things like go for a walk in the rain with the Prime Minister to take a look at the Sydney Opera House, and climb the Harbour Bridge. But one thing he didn’t bother doing, or wasn’t made to do, was wear a harness. If you or me went climbing up the Bridge, we’d be forced to wear a jumpsuit and harness, and if we didn’t comply, sorry, No Harness No Climb! Even Diplo had to wear a harness. Obama loves equality, but apparently, some people are more equal than others. Indigenous elder Aunty Joy Murphy Wandin learnt the hard way. She was meant to perform a Welcome to Country ceremony for Obama, but was kicked out because she was allegedly being “too difficult”. She had requested to present Obama with the gift of a gum leaf. Apparently, gum leaves can be quite dangerous.
