Treating a common problem: Pasty Butt

Pasty butt occurs when the chick’s vent is covered with dried poop.

This can be deadly for the chick.

Ours was already getting lethargic. It’s important to treat quickly.

You need:
1 tablespoon Epsom salts
1 cup warm water
1 small container for the chick

Place the chick in the water to soak for 5-10 minutes.

Once the poop has softened, rinse in warm water.

Let your chick dry and get warm and keep a close watch until behavior looks normal.
