Wanted Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop

On March 23, 2023, an APD officer observed a driver pass by without wearing a seatbelt. A check of the vehicle's tag revealed the registered owner was wanted for probation violation on an aggravated assault charge.

Officers alerted the APD Air Unit who was nearby before conducting a traffic stop. Once the Air Unit was overhead, a traffic stop was attempted. However, the driver refused to stop. The Air Unit continued following the vehicle while officers remained nearby, but out of sight. The driver stopped on Oak Drive and officers quickly responded and took him into custody after a brief foot chase.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Cepeda Carter. He was charged with multiple traffic violations and obstruction, in addition to his outstanding warrant.
