Learning to call it quits

On this day the weather apps were conflicting with each other a bit and when I got out to the field I noticed that the winds were slow enough to fly without any major issues but when I started kiting I began noticing the gusts were lifting and then dropping the wing faster than I'm used to at this location. This got me a bit weary but since they weren't hard enough to make me feel unsafe, I decided to give it a go anyway. Once I got over the trees the wind blowing began pushing me right even though I was giving a lot of left brake. Decided to come back down and ended up spending the next hour clipping in and kiting after finally removing the trim mallions. I want to try them out next time I'm flying in calm conditions so I can begin learning when to use them. I made the right call coming down because shortly after I began kiting there were a couple times the gusts lifted me from my feet and that's when I finally decided to call it quits. Now I'll have to train myself to keep those trims at the right setting when taking off and landing! See you guys on the next flight.
