The Book of Joshua contains three main sections: conquest (1-12), division (13-22), and Joshua's farewell speeches (23-24). Chapters 22-24 form the final section of the book and focus on Joshua's farewell speeches to the Israelites.

In chapter 22, Joshua sends home the two and a half tribes of Israel who had settled on the east side of the Jordan River. He reminds them to remain faithful to God and to keep His commandments. He also instructs them to build an altar as a reminder of their unity with the rest of Israel and their devotion to God. However, when the other tribes hear about the altar, they assume that the eastern tribes have rebelled against God and plan to attack them. After a tense confrontation, it is revealed that the altar was not meant for sacrifices, but rather as a symbol of their unity with the other tribes.

In chapter 23, Joshua gives his farewell address to the leaders of Israel, reminding them to stay faithful to God and to avoid worshiping other gods. He warns them that if they do not obey God's commandments, they will face punishment and be driven out of the land that God has given them.

In chapter 24, Joshua gathers all the tribes of Israel at Shechem to renew their covenant with God. He recounts the history of Israel from Abraham to their conquest of the land of Canaan, emphasizing how God had been with them every step of the way. He then challenges them to choose whether they will serve God or the gods of their ancestors. The people pledge their allegiance to God, and Joshua sets up a stone as a witness to their covenant.

Overall, these chapters in Joshua emphasize the importance of remaining faithful to God, unity among the tribes of Israel, and the need to remember God's faithfulness throughout history.
