French Police support macron and legally bash people on the streets with the weapon of choice being a baton.

The question is, when is it ok for groups of blue soldiers to charge at non-provoking civilians with striking batons?

Answer - whenever they are just doing their job. Their job is to smash people with batons whenever they see fit to do so.
