Ancestral Skin Markers is a series of documentary short films that highlight life, work and passion of ancestral skin markers from across the globe.

Episode one features Mi'kmaw skin marker Gordon Sparks working out of Bathurst New Brunswick Canada. Gordon is working on developing large scale pieces fashioned after his Mi'kmaq ancestors visual language found on quill basket and ancestral garments.

This episode was supported by Arts Nova Scotia and I acknowledge their support and am thankful for the opportunity to create work that tells the story of our artists and storytellers.

Footage found in the introduction was shot by Steven Recalma, Wes Wilson, Toonasa, Billie Jean Gabriel, and myself.
