Welcome back to another scene.
Snowfall was predicted for this night, luckily it's the weekend so i was able to go out and record a snowy night walk.
That brings us back to the Finnish capital Helsinki, to one of the most densely populated areas in Finland, the Punavuori District, with more than 20,000 inhabitants per km2.
Punavuori is located in Helsinki's trendy Design District.
However, this was once unthinkable.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, due to its proximity to the sea, the inhabitants of Punavuori were mainly sailors and fishermen who lived in wooden cabins.
The name Punavuori (Red mountain) refers to the red cliffs that were still visible in the 19th century.
Between the 1870s and 1970s, many criminals and smugglers were active in Punavuori, in the following years after the area changed character and became a middle-class neighborhood.
Today it is home to a large concentration of museums, art galleries, local design shops, antique markets, theatres and other points of interest.

All the major cities around the world have seen amazing changes in landscape over the past 200 years, but it is now unimaginable that this area used to have wooden huts scattered over 2 red hills near the sea.
I always wonder what the inhabitants of those days would say if they could see it today.
