One of the most common requests we receive is to review some of the inexpensive Android-powered streaming TV offerings out there. One such unit is the Leelbox which features 8GB of on-board storage, 2GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU and dedicated GPU which, when combined, are supposed to offer both 4K and 3D video.

As we prepare for our review we unboxed the unit to see how it came equipped and went thru the package, set it up and began configuring it.

This system runs a modified version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for phones or tablets. For reference Android 8.0 Oreo recently started being used in phones such as the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Compare this to the nVidia Shield TV which uses Android TV 6.0, an interface designed first and foremost for televisions. Will this implementation of Android for phones and tablets hurt the Leelbox's performance? Stay tuned to the channel for the full review.
