Should You Buy a Hyperkin Retron HD? A RoXolid Review (Featuring Contra Footage)

In this video we review the Hyperkin Retron HD 8-bit NES Clone system. This video is a re-upload that features footage of Contra, missing from the original due to a false copyright claim that was disputed and we won.

Hyperkin knows a thing or two about retro gaming. One of their first entries into the category, the Retron 1, boasted great compatibility with games however it was limited with crummy composite video output. Sure, it would work with your games but it would look like garbage on your HD TV. Hyperkin is back with an update to this system with the Retron HD, an 8-bit NES clone system designed to make you forget that you didn't score an NES Classic. We put it through its paces to see how well it stacks up.

Please note: I originally captured footage of Contra on the system which played very well. However Konami placed a copyright strike against that video so I removed it and posted this one instead. Contra plays great but Konami doesn't seem to play well with YouTube content creators.

Why it RoX:
Looks amazing on a large screen TV
AV and HDMI outputs
Awesome controller included
Great game compatibility

What could be improved:
Audio is off
Only 1 controller included
Other systems perform similarly for less
