This spunky challenger leads the pack in-terms of pricing but also comes with AV outputs, great games compatibility, 2 exceptional controllers and a whole lot more. To determine our overall winner we rated the following factors:

Game Play
Audio Quality

We awarded points to the Hyperkin Retron HD for design and game play. The Retron HD definitely takes design queues from the Nintendo Entertainment System as it matches color, power and reset buttons from the original NES. We also thought the choice of two color options was a great bonus. While both systems play the same North American NES games, at least as far as we tested, the inclusion of an NTSC/PAL switch means the Hyperkin Retron HD could play more games.

We awarded points to the Gamerz Tek 8-Bit HD for Included Accessories and overall Value, and they're really related to each other. The fact that the 8-Bit HD includes not just 2 basic controllers but 2 really good controllers is a huge nod in it's favor. Add in the fact that it is $10 less expensive to boot is a great bonus too. On top of that we felt the color pallet and pixels looks better and sharper on the 8-Bit HD.

The controllers were similar in our estimation, both worked great and are comfortable to use. The audio was also similar between both, as each seemed to have the same audio traits.

Between these two consoles we have to recommend the Gamerz Tek 8-Bit HD over the Hyperkin Retron HD due to the superior color pallet, shrper pixels, 2 controllers and lower price tag.
