In this video, we're joined by Jen from JLuv81 on YouTube to share our recommendations on how to start your Sega Genesis or Mega Drive collection for under $100

I'll admit it, I was stupid in my youth, caught up in the Nintendo versus Genesis bickering on the schoolyard. In the end, I needed to not choose either or, I needed to realize there were great things about both systems. Now that I'm less immature and have a bit more perspective I have added many Sega Genesis titles to my collection. For others in a similar situation, however, you may be wondering where to start. That's where Jen, aka JLuv81, and I have put our heads together to create a list of our recommendations on where to start your Genesis collection.

Truth be told there are games that I actually prefer the Genesis versions over the Nintendo counterparts. NBA Jam, Ghouls and Ghosts, and my personal favorites Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 are both superior on the Genesis. There are other countless classics that aren't on this list. Mortal Kombat, Mickey Mouse in the Castle of Illusion, Rocket Knight Adventures and more are all great titles to choose from.

For those looking for a great way to keep your collection organized I highly recommend Gameye. This app has saved me so many times from buying duplicates or over-paying for a title. Free to download Gameye allows you to add attributes to your titles like whether it is boxed or not, includes a manual, how often you play and more. In the past, I had used a Google Spreadsheet to keep track of my games and, when I had internet service, it worked great. But there were times when I was in the boonies and didn't have internet service where the Google Sheet couldn't be pulled up. Gameye works on or offline and allow for backups where I can transfer data from device to device. Overall it's a great tool.

Finally, make sure you check out the Banggood website as the three reproduction carts they sent us for testing are all amazing. Fix It Felix, Jr., Castlevania and Mega Man: The Wiley Wars are all great titles and for under $15 you cannot beat these unique titles.
