In this video, we unbox a piece of MY personal history, get a donation for Camila Gonzalez in her battle against cancer and get a fun piece of EWJ Memorabilia.

As long as I can remember I have had 2 hobbies, video games, and RC Cars. I got into hobby grade RC cars and trucks in 1991, my freshman year in high school, and have been hooked ever since. While I've had my fair share of success, nearly won a National Championship in 2001 and in 2002 I started writing for an industry magazine. While it was fun to a point there were some things I didn't like about the publication I was working for and was going to call it quits. That's when my good friend and editor for that magazine, Greg Vogel, messaged me and offered me a position with a new magazine he and several others were going to start up. I immediately accepted and became the Lead Contributing Author for RC Driver Magazine.

We knew we wanted to do a few things different. A few magazines had started throwing T&A in their books, we wanted to remain family-friendly. We were all huge fans of full-scale motorsports and we wanted to incorporate that and RC whenever possible. Most of all we wanted to promote the hobby in a way we were proud of and could have fun doing.

One of, if not the, biggest accomplishment of my career has to be scoring an interview with Tony Stewart for the first two issues. Tony had just bought an RC car company himself, Custom Works RC, not surprisingly a dirt oval car manufacturer. This was too cool, Smoke was completely gracious and, having met him later on, I was able to thank him personally for the interview.

One of our viewers, 1980PainForFun, aka Dan W., has also been interested in RC. He actually has issue #3 of RC Driver which he sent to me to autograph. What I love, and completely forgot, about this issue is how it is directly related to the history of RoXolid Productions. David Baker was our illustrator for the magazine and issue #3 is where "The Adventures of Flip Syde" debuted as our monthly comic strip. David is the same person who created the caricature of me that I use in the RoXolid Productions logos. That's pretty special to me! Another special piece of this issue was the coverage of the first IFMAR World Championships I was able to attend and cover. While RC Driver has transitioned to an online-only publication now this is still a huge piece of my work history and some of my fondest memories.

Also in the box was a gift cart from Dan to cover the return shipping of the issue, with any proceeds remaining to be donated to Camila Gonzalez as she battles cancer. What I am going to do instead is donate the entire gift card and simply pay for return shipping myself. I appreciate Dan donating to the cause, it means a lot to this little girl and her family!

Finally, Dan threw something additional in the box for me. Knowing my love for Earthworm Jim he, somehow, found a metal Earthworm Jim Lunchbox! The coolest thing about it is that you can tell that the artwork is based on the Genesis Game as it references "Megs of Power!", a very Sega thing to do. This is super fun and will be on display in my collection very soon.

I can't thank Dan enough for letting me look back to my personal past by sending the #3 issue for me to sign and send back. It was a fun trip down memory lane for me. I had forgotten that Flip Syde debuted in that issue an I loved seeing the Worlds coverage again for the first time in years.
