In this video, I test out the Sega Genesis Mini LIVE, while also going through the mCable Gaming Edition for better video & use the Retro-Bit 6-Button Genesis Controller.

Ever since I first learned about Retro Fighters, I have been a fan of their products. Their original Brawler64 really changed the game in many ways for how you played the Nintendo 64. Several months ago they announced a two-in-one controller that would be compatible with both the Sega Genesis and the Sega Saturn. Well, they've taken that design and also made a controller for the Sega Genesis Mini with a USB cable. That's the controller you see here today, the BrawlerGen USB.

The BrawlerGen USB sells for about $30, and is available from CastlemaniaGames. Out of the box, you get a pretty unique controller for your Sega Genesis Mini. First and foremost it has your typical Sega controls. Your d-pad is here, ABC, XYZ buttons, but Retro Fighters also did some pretty cool things with this controller. In addition to the d-pad, which is patterned after the d-pad on the 6 button Genesis controller, there's also an analog stick! That's pretty cool! in addition to that, if you do want to use this with emulators, retro pies, or other systems, there's also an L & R trigger on the top of the controller.

The fit and finish of the BrawlerGen USB is very good. It reminds me a lot of the Brawler 64, however it does feel considerably lighter in the hand. Additionally, the controller has a bit of a textured finish on it, which feels really good. It's a little odd that there's so much dead space in the face of the controller, they definitely could have put their logo here or something.

Overall, I think this is another very good controller from Retro Fighters. We will be doing a full-blown review on this in the near future, make sure you stay subscribed to the channel so you can check it out when it goes live. In the meantime, pre-orders are now open on the Castlemania Games website for both the USB version and the version that will be compatible with both the Genesis and the Saturn. And if this is any indication, I cannot wait to get my hands on that Genesis and Saturn version.
