In this video, our last covering the 2018 Portland Retro Gaming Expo, we highlight and discuss our pickups from our trip!

Man, what a trip on so many levels, to PRGE. We met so many people, had such great experiences, and brought home so much awesome gear. Going into the show I was looking for just a few specific items:

Famicom Disc System:
Doki Doki Panic
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa

Famicom:
Kid Dracula
Twin Bee

Sega Master System:
Rampage
Any Wonderboy games
R-Type

Sega CD:
Earthworm Jim Sega CD

Sega Saturn:
Earthworm Jim 2
Action Replay
Anything decent, really

Heading into the show, with a pretty small list in-hand, I hoped I'd be able to pick up most of what I was looking for. Things started off really well with my first pickup, Rampage for the Master System. It didn't have a manual, but other than that it was in great shape. I was able to pick it up for just $12, a darn good way to start the weekend.

We went to Retro Game Traders, a really awesome local retro store, after some time. Man, I could have dropped some serious coin here but I showed restraint, especially knowing I hadn't seen the vendor's booths yet. I only picked up one game, Ghostbusters for the Famicom. The only bummer is that what I wanted was Ghostbusters 2. Sigh, at least I got a good deal on it. Later on that night, when out to dinner, John Riggs hooked me up with a spare copy he had of Doki Doki Panic. Man, to not only score a copy but to get it from my good friend Riggs, that's cool. At least to me!

Saturday morning, business started to pick up. I spent a lot of time just getting the lay of the land and getting b-roll footage. Early in the day, I snagged a copy of the NES Pursuit from John Riggs, along with taking delivery of my Retro-Tink I had pre-ordered from Ryan at CastlemaniaGames.com. I also found a good deal on an Action Replay for the Saturn (FInally!) and a Famicom Controller for the NES too. That was about all I bought Saturday, but Sunday would be a lot different.

I had seen a good bit of stuff on Saturday, but nothing I really wanted to snag at the listed prices. About 1/2 through the day, however, deals started to get made. I grabbed copies of R-Type for the Master System first, and then I made my physically biggest purchase. I had been eyeballing these storage drawers on eBay for some time and I managed to snag one, priced at $30, for only $20! I've seen these go on eBay for over $100. Now, this needed some cleaning but, man, I love it!

I kept looking and looking and finally, about 30-minutes before the close, I snagged a couple really good wins. I went into a booth where I discovered Rastan for the Master System, a game Castlemania Ryan really recommended and got it for $24. As I was talking to the folks running the booth I mentioned how I hadn't seen any FDS Games. They mentioned they had one and asked if I wanted to see it. And then it happened...

Bio. Miracle. Bokutte. Upa! What are the odds?!? They really didn't want to budge on the price, but I managed to get a few dollars off. I have to say this disc is clean, it comes with everything, I was a very happy boy!

I both probably bought too much yet could have bought much more. I do want to thank everyone who had all these cool things on display, for sale, and cut us deals. I hope to return to PRGE again one day soon!!
