In this video, we once again had a chance to interview the Immortal John Hancock at the 2019 Portland Retro Gaming Expo, this year discussing his complete Sega Genesis collection which was on display.

John Hancock is one of the most passionate gamers and collectors you'll ever meet. Much like last year where he had his complete boxed NES collection on display, in 2019 he had his complete in-box Sega Genesis collection on display at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, and walking through the display was simply amazing.

Being in a room with every single Sega Genesis game was truly breathtaking. While many collect for Nintendo, complete Genesis collections are not nearly as common. One thing I will say that I prefer about Genesis collecting over Nintendo collecting is that it is so much easier to find complete in-box games. See, the Genesis games came in hard clamshell cases, similar to what old Disney VHS cassettes included. This was vastly superior to any Nintendo box, and they survived the 80's and 90's so much better!

I ran into John on Sunday Morning at the show, and he was super gracious with his time. Instead of trying to squeeze time in later in the day for this interview, he told me to come right now, he had time and we could bang out the interview. This is one of the things I have discovered about John since the first time we met, that the guy you see on YouTube is the same person you see in-person.

I cannot thank John Hancock enough for being so kind and gracious with his time. He's truly an asset to the entire gaming community, not only with his YouTube Channel and the preservation of gaming through his collections but for his charity efforts with the Cowlitz Gamers for Kids convention. I will tell you he as kind in-person as he comes across on his channel. Thank you John, I look forward to the next time we meet!
