Genesis + Sega CD = RARE JVC X'Eye Added to My Collection #Shorts
I'm this #YouTube #Shorts episode, we head to Live Action Games in Champaign, Illinois where we add a Rare Sega Genesis and Sega CD 2 in 1 to our collection in the JVC X'EYE.
Our local retro store, Live Action Games, just recently bought out a local collection with some amazing items in it. Nintendo Famicoms, Famicom Disc Systems, Virtual Boys, Atari Jaguars, and more we're all here. One system that really stood out to me when I first saw it available, and I knew I had to have, was the JVC X'EYE.
For those who aren't familiar with this system, the JVC X'EYE is the result of a collaboration between Sega and JVC. Where the Genesis/Mega Drive had the Sega CD, the X'EYE combines both of these systems into one. The result is a system that is smaller overall, considerably more reliable, and simply darn cool to check out. The system should have a JVC-branded 3-button controller, along with a separate JVC power supply, which this system has both of.
The X'EYE also has some interesting outputs on the back of the system itself, which makes it super cool. It features a Model 2 Genesis multi-output connector, so the awesome Component video cables from HD Retrovision plug right in. If SCART is more your taste, then Insurrection Industries SCART Cables are also a direct fit. If you don't want to use these cables or your TV doesn't have these connections, you can also use Component Video outputs thanks to the built-in female RCA Jacks right on the back of the system.
While I have both a Model 1 and Model 2 Genesis and a Model 2 Sega CD, that combo requires 2 separate power supplies and takes up a decent amount of space on my setup. The X'EYE only uses one power supply, and it is slightly narrower than my existing setup. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that the X'EYE is actually compatible with the 32X as well, however it does hang over the CD drawer slightly and obstructs it slightly. It is a minor inconvenience, and one I am more than willing to accept for the greater convenience that the X'EYE will deliver.
I am thrilled that I am finally able to add this unique system to my collection. I mean, a Genesis + Sega CD all in one with the JVC X'EYE is pretty stinking cool and something I am looking forward to testing and playing into the future. This will clean up my overall setup considerably, plus it is a great conversation piece as well. Thanks to Adrian at Live Action Games for letting me know about it, and I look forward to bringing you more info on it soon.
