In this video, we unbox and test out the Lepow 1080P HD 15.6" HD Portable Monitor.

I've been spoiled over my last 10-years of working, where I have been able to have dual monitors for my day-to-day job. This makes things much easier when it comes to multi-tasking, especially with graphic design work, HTML Coding, or editing videos. To keep content flowing, I often take my personal laptop to work with me and edit over my lunch, but I don't have the benefit of a 2nd monitor like at home or on my work computer. Well, the folks at Lepow have a great solution that not only adds a 2nd monitor when I am out and about, but also allows me to play my Switch or another console on the go. That solution is their 15.6" Portable Monitor you see here.

What's really great about this monitor is the fact it is not only super-portable, but it also has a lot of features. For inputs, you can connect via Mini HDMI (cable included) or USB-C (also included). Power is provided by a 2A output USB power brick, also included, however you can also power it from other sources. I found that the Nintendo Switch Dock could power the monitor via USB-C, and my Dell laptop can not only provide power via USB-C, but that same cable can also be used to provide the signal to the display. One cable instead of two, very nice!

I first started my testing by hooking my Switch up though my Brook Power Bay Dock. Going through the monitor's settings, I was able to get it dialed in ok enough. I felt the colors were a bit soft and washed out, but overall they were ok. I was pleased to see there were both 16:9 and 4:3 display options, along with a Game Mode. This was truly designed for gaming! The speaker output was better than I expected; they actually sound better than my TV's speakers!

Up next, I swapped out my Switch for my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and a wireless keyboard and mouse to see if I could use this as a portable DeX dock. Unsurprisingly, it worked like a champ, I love the Brook Power Bay and how versatile it is! Combined with the Lepow Portable monitor and it almost felt like I had a mini PC or laptop to use on the go. This is a super powerful tool!

Finally, I tested it out as a second monitor on my laptop. I was pleased that I could use a single USB-C cable to provide both signal and power. Much like with the Switch, the colors were a bit washed out. If you're looking to use this for graphic design, you might want to consider a regular monitor instead, but you would lose the portability. Being able to have a dual screen setup on the go is awesome. In-fact, I edited THIS very video using the Lepow Portable Monitor as a second screen, and it made it super convenient.

Why It RoX:
- Extremely portable
- Includes everything you need to connect to a source
- Speakers are decent
- Integrated Headphone Jack
- Included Screen Protector
- USB-C can provide signal AND power via PC
- Virtually lag-free gaming
- Can be powered by Switch Dock
- Works with Samsung DeX

What Could Be Improved?
- Thick Bezels
- Not a huge fan of the volume rocker
- Fingerprint Magnet
- Colors are a bit soft

Should You Buy One?
If you're looking primarily to use at home as a second display, I'd advise going with a more traditional monitor; you'll get more authentic color reproductions and a lower cost. However, if you could use a monitor on-the-go, if you want to play games anywhere, and size and weight are important, the Lepow 15.6" monitor is terrific! It has made video editing so much easier for me. Thanks to John Riggs for his review, making me aware of it, and Lepow for providing a sample for review!
