In layman's terms, a humanized mouse is simply a mouse that has been altered to have human genes and DNA so that testing can be performed to see how drugs, compounds and diseases could potentially affect humans.
The mice themselves are so closely related to each other that they're essentially clones, and what you do to one will affect the other ones in an identical fashion.
They have no immune system of their own, and are essentially a blank slate for scientists to see how certain treatments can potentially help people. This is how all clinical trials start, and, in fact, the most recent round of those certain injections were passed for human use after being tested on only 8 mice! That's not so neat.
