Awesome Epic Retro Video Game October 2020 Pickups! Games! Cables! Consoles!
In this video, we share all of our awesome October pickups, some rewiring we've done, and give you some insights on future videos we're working on.
October 2020 is in our rearview mirror, and we had a tremendous month of pickups. It started early in the month and just went on and on and on all month long. We've shared our pickups from Video Games Monthly, Retro Game Treasures, and how we turned $28 into nearly $70 in trade credits at GameStop, but those are just some of our pickups we've had this month.
Early in the month, I got a huge bug to clean up my wiring in my game room, integrate my PS4 into my game room, and have all my systems be able to go into my capture card or ElGato. To do this, I needed another Component Video Switcher, a larger HDMI switch box, and a whole lot of wiring to do. I managed to get a killer deal on an 8x1 Monoprice HDMI switcher, like less than 1/2 the normal price, which made things a lot easier. The new 2nd Component Video Switcher connects my PS2, PS3, Saturn and Xbox to a RetroTink 2x Multiformat, and all look great. To make sure my PS2, PS3 and Xbox all look great, I managed to pick up a set of Monster cables for the PlayStation and OG Xbox, and a set of HD Retrovision cables for my PS2. Pretty awesome!
The second weekend of the month, we headed to Rockville and Bridgeton, IN and in previous years I had never seen any retro gaming stuff. The first store we went into, a store called Chadillacs, a resale store I had never been in previously. We meandered around the store for a bit, and they let us know that they had a deal where whatever we could fit in a shopping basket would be only $5. Well, I didn't see much of anything, until we were leaving. Inside a showcase they had a STACK of games! Like, I couldn't believe how many there were, nearly 30, plus a GameCube controller. The games, and their values are:
The evil within: $15
Titanfall 2: $5.50
God of War 2: $10
Suikoden 4: $28
KOTR II: $18
KOTR: $12
Splinter Cell: $5
Madden 2005: $4.50
Kinect Sports 2: $7.50
Dance Central: $4
Kinect Advetures: $4 (x2)
Kinect Sports: $5.40
Sniper Elite V2: $7
NBA 2K 13: $4.30
Halo 3: $5.50
Sniper Ghost Warrior: $4.66
Assassins creed 3: $4.25
Assassins creed 1: $4
Saints Row 2: $7.4
Dead Island: $3.25
Madden 12: $4.35
Batman Arkham Asylum: $5.30
Battlefield 3: $4
Dead Island: $5.25
Soldier of Fortune: $6.65
That was a tremendous haul, and all for only $5!
I also managed to pick up a PS2 Slim, God of War II, and Suikoden IV, all for just $30! Things just kept getting better and better for pickups!
I also picked up some additional games throughout the month:
TurboGrafx 16:
Bonk's Adventures
Final Lap Twin
Super Famicom:
Super Indy Champ
Japanese N64
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
Wii:
Excitebots
Xbox 350
Bionic Commando
Switch
Shantae and the Seven Sirens
Finally, for our anniversary, Ginger gave me an Atari Lynx handheld system. I've never held one before, let alone owned one, but now I have one in my collection. I need to pick up some new games for this, although there is a new multicart coming for the system soon too that I may look into.
Overall, this was about the most epic of epic hauls I've ever gotten. I've had 2 other big lots, one for $65 that had over 90 games, 2 N64s, 2 PS1, and more. I also scored a Wii for $5 last year with all the connections PLUS Wii Sports. Sometimes, good pickups can happen, you just need to be on the lookout.
