The Return of YouTube Upload Email Notifications? - Would You Sign Up for a RoXolid Email List

In this video, we discuss the options of possibly doing our own email notifications for video uploads and want to hear your opinion.

Several weeks ago, YouTube announced that they were ending the process of sending out email notifications when a YouTube Creator uploaded new content. They claimed that less than 1% of all YouTube users were taking advantage of this notification System. Since then, creators, including myself, have noticed a decline in views on video uploads. As such, I am exploring the option of starting my own email list and notifications.

The way it would work would be the same way if you signed up for an email newsletter through any company. You would enter your email address, your email preferences, and when a new video goes live, I would send out a bulk email to those who signed up informing them that a new video is live.

I had put out a community post and a Facebook post asking if people would be interested in such a service if I offered it. Somewhere interested, somewhere concerned about the cost. Trust me, if I were to do this the cost would be negligible to me and it would be one of those cost that would be covered by those who donate through Patreon or as channel numbers. I would use funds from that directly to offset any costs. I do appreciate those who are concerned that this would be an expensive endeavor for me, but one of the good things about my everyday job is that this is what I do, sending emails and using email clients in my day-to-day profession.

While I would primarily use this for informing viewers when new videos were uploaded, I may produce a monthly newsletter just recapping everything that went on in a given month with the channel. I may share when I have specials or new sales through the Teespring store, and I may cross promote new gear coming out from partners such as Castlemania Games, Retro-bit, Retro Fighters, and others.

What I am looking at initially would be a free service that would allow me to send a set number of emails a month at no charge. So if a thousand people signed up and I post 10 videos over the course of the month, there's ten thousand sends. I want to do whatever it takes to make sure that this community feels like a community, feels like they're informed, and knows what's going on. If this is something people use, I will make it happen. But if it's not anything that you care about, let me know that as well and I will put my time and efforts elsewhere
