In our recent unboxing video for the Retro Fighters Brawler64, LightersInc commented that they were frustrated that they had not seen any videos which feature how to pair the dongle to the controller. I admit that I did not do this as my controllers and dongles were all paired properly from the box. It got me thinking, what if you could pair a red controller to a Grey dongle, or a blue dongle to a green controller?

To get the dongle into pairing mode, simply plug it into the system without a controller powered on. Once the power is on, the LED on the dongle will begin to flash, indicating it is in pairing mode. There are 3 methods to get the controller into pairing mode. The first method is to hold the start button down for 3 seconds, and the LED will begin to flash. After a few seconds the controller and dongle should pair to each other. The second method is to press the reset button in the back of the controller and the controller will enter pairing mode as well. Neither method makes much of a difference from the other, they both work just as well.

There's a 3rd method that Retro Fighters informed me about after this video was complete. Press the D-Pad down, A, B Start at the same time. This will reset the dongle, same as pressing the small button on back.

From here, you can pair, repair, and swap your dongles as you see fit. I would keep the colors pairs to the same dongle and controller, just to make sure you know what is connected to what. But in the event that you want to swap your dongles around, it's super easy to do.
