In this YouTube #Shorts episode, we preview some upcoming mod videos we will be doing on both the Sega Dreamcast and the TurboGrafx16.

BIG thanks to the folks at Stone Age Gamer who gave us a great deal on the MODE and DCHDMI mod! Also big thanks to Jason at Game-Tech for splitting an order in two so I could get my region free mod sooner than later. Make sure you support those who support the community!

My goal with all of my video game systems, regardless of generation, is to get them to an HDMI connection. for some systems that means going through the excellent RetroTink2x. Other systems I go through my OSSC. A few, I have HDMI modded. While I currently go through my OSSC for my Dreamcast by a VGA cables, there are certain compatibility issues with this setup. there are games that simply will not capture for example due to the out of spec output. I have finally pulled the trigger and will be HDMI modding my Dreamcast using the exceptional DCHDMI mod.

Another interesting mod for the Dreamcast, and for the Saturn as well, is the Terra Onion MODE. What this does is replace the optical drive with an SD card slot, allowing you to store your entire Dreamcast library in the system. Now in the past I have been extremely outspoken against downloading ISO & ROM files from the internet. My position hasn't changed, and part of my installation video will also show you how to backup your existing library.

The final mod is the one that I am perhaps most excited for as weird as that might sound. about a year ago now I purchased a TurboGrafx16 at the MogameconJr from Pat at @ShowMeRetro. Since then I have picked up controllers, Triad power supplies from Ryan at Castlemania games, and the Spark Plug from Insurrection Industries. Jason at Game-Tech has a highly recommended region free mod board that I will be installing into my system. This will allow me to use import games on the system, and Japanese PC engine games are considerably cheaper than their US counterparts. This really opens up the potential for collecting for me.
