In this #YouTube #Shorts episode we show you one of the mods we have been working on for the TurboGraphics 16 so we can play PC Engine games on it.

Since I really got back into collecting games, I have loved getting my hands on import titles. One of the great things about import games is the fact that they are often considerably less expensive than their US counterparts. Some systems require very little to allow you to play Japanese games on them. The NES simply needs a 60-to-72 pan adapter and you can play Famicom games. The N64 just needs to have an insert swapped out to allow you to play Japanese games. Some systems, however, are locked out at a system level, in such as the case with the TurboGraphics 16. Thankfully, Jason at Game-Tech.US has an amazing region free mod for the TurboGraphx 16 that we've just installed.

We will be posting a separate video walking you through our installation process. From start to finish, the mod took me about 45 minutes to install. I also took time to clean up the inside of the case which had some gunk and dirt built up in it.

For my test here, I used a copy of PacLand, a game I have never played outside of the arcades. I loved the PacLand cartoon as a kid, it was so much fun. Looking for complete copies for the TurboGrafx 16, they would be often over $50 on eBay. I managed to score this copy for under thirty. like I say, there are significant savings to be had with importing games.
