Nintendo had their first Direct broadcast of 2023, and there were some good moments, some great moments, and some meh moments. What were they? Let's take a look at the announcements including Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Game Coming to Switch, More on Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and while not Metroid Prime 4 we ARE Getting Metroid on the Switch!

Dead Cells Castlevania DLC
I need to play more Dead Cells, and this may be one thing that gets me to do just that. The DLC for Dead Cells places the main character in Castlevania, with the same levels, music, and enemies. This could be really amazing and something I am looking forward to!

Metroid Prime Remastered
The original Prime game from the Nintendo GameCube is getting a remaster! Not only digitally, but physically as well!!! Metroid Prime Remastered is available via the eShop digitally today, and releases on 2/22/23 for those who want a physical release.

Pikman 4
This, for me, I didn't care. I tried to play Pikman in the past and I just couldn't. It reminds me of other colectathons/crafting sort of games and I just can't get into them. I am happy for those who love the series, and it looks like they're adding a Poochy sort of character, but for me, it's a pass.

Disney: Illusion Island
This is an interesting game for me as a Disney fan. I've not loved the redesigned cartoons, but I do love Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad. While not my favorite animation style, I do like that it's the Fab 4 in an adventure with each other, and the graphics look great. My main concern, however, is how small the characters looked.

Xenoblade DLC
Ok,I have never been a Xenoblade fan, so for me I didn't care for this. I am glad for those who love the series that they're getting more content, but for me, nah, I'm good. That also goes for...

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Breath of the Wild is one of the most over-rated games in my opinion, and Tears of the Kingdom looks to double down on this with the same engine and game design. For me, this is a hard pass. it also appears that Link and Zelda may change places and Zelda becomes the hero of the story. Nintendo did also announce a new Amiibo and Collector's Set, so you may have both a $60 and $70 variant.

Game Boy and Game Boy Advance On Switch Online!
This... this was THE announcement for me. I have been playing more and more games from these libraries as of late and love that they're coming to the Switch. The way it appears is that the Game Boy games will be part of the standard Switch Online membership, but GBA games are on the Expansion pass. It's cool on the Game Boy side that you can play the Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, or Game Boy Color variant of titles. This is available TODAY!

What was your favorite announcement from the direct? Let me know in the comments!
