Join us as we explore the fascinating history of Sylvan Glen Park Preserve. It is a 408-acre nature preserve located in northern Westchester County, New York. The park is home to a variety of hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging. The trails wind through forests, meadows, and wetlands, and offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

One of the most popular trails in the park is the Mohegan Quarry Trail. This trail takes hikers to the site of the former Mohegan Quarry, which operated from the 1890s to the 1940s. The quarry provided granite for many of New York City's most famous buildings, including the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Another popular trail is the Sylvan Glen Trail. This trail loops through the heart of the park, offering hikers a variety of scenery. The trail passes through forests, meadows, and wetlands, and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

The preserve has six main trails:

Sylvan Glen Trail - This 2.1-mile trail is the easiest trail in the preserve. It winds through forests and wetlands, and offers easy access to the preserve's many features.
Turtle Pond Trail - This 1.4-mile trail loops around Turtle Pond, a small pond in the preserve. The trail is a good choice for families with young children.
Sylvan Brook Trail - This 1.1-mile trail follows Sylvan Brook, a small stream that runs through the preserve. The trail is a good choice for those looking for a peaceful and quiet hike.
High Quarry Trail - This 1.2-mile trail leads to the top of High Quarry, a former quarry in the preserve. The trail offers stunning views of the Hudson River Valley.
Old Farm Trail - This 1.1-mile trail leads to the ruins of an old farm in the preserve. The trail is a good choice for those interested in history.
Sylvan Glen Paw Park - This 1.3-acre dog park is located in the preserve. The park is a great place for dogs to run and play.
