The 2018 XXL Freshman Class List is here, featuring Lil Pump, Ski Mask the Slump God, Smokepurpp, Trippie Redd, YBN Nahmir, JID, Stefflon Don, BlocBoy JB, and Wifisfuneral. Lil Skies also won the 10th Spot, but refused to show up to the shoot, after originally accepting the offer. I swear it's the same story time and time again. Every year, XXL put together a group of young artists, who they consider to be the hottest new comers in the rap game. And every year, there's a handful of surprises, and some pretty glaring omissions. Huge omissions from the past include Drake, Nicki Minaj, Childish Gambino, and the Migos. Now, for sure a number of this year's rappers deserved to make the coveted cover, but as always, there has been backlash from fans, as a number of great young rappers have been snubbed. And that's to be expected, because really, XXL is trying to do something that's impossible - predict the future.
