EXTRACTION 2 FIRST LOOK CHRIS HEMSWORTH

No one is at all surprised that Netflix will produce a follow-up to the popular movie Extraction from 2020. Extraction is a very enjoyable action thriller that is based on the comic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman (child fighting aside). With an estimated 90 million households reportedly having watched the film within a month of its release, it's not surprising that it went on to have the biggest premiere in Netflix's history.

Chris Hemsworth plays a brand-new action hero in Sam Hargrave's and Joe Russo's Extraction, which has the makings of a franchise. He assumes the character of Tyler Rake, a former member of the Australian special forces who is now a mercenary for black operations. Rake was hired in the first movie to find the kidnapped son of a mafia boss. He ultimately went above and above the call of duty, putting his life in danger to make sure the kidnapped boy was safe. Actually, he didn't only endanger his life; it appeared as though he had passed away.

Rake obviously survives to fight another day, just like any good action hero. Extraction 2 hasn't been given many official details as of yet, but the first film already had a sizable fan base that is eagerly anticipating the sequel. No pressure, correct? Who is responsible for Extraction 2?

For Extraction 2, Hargrave will serve as the film's director once more. Hargrave made his feature film directing debut with the first Extraction film. In the past, he had hinted that he would not helm every Extraction movie. In January 2021, Hargrave remarked to Collider:

"Therefore, in terms of my own involvement, I would like to be as committed as I can be without becoming ungrateful. There are many other incredibly talented directors out there who would have very distinctive visions and would bring something new and exciting to the franchise. As a fan, I would be thrilled to see them. Ideally, we'll be able to complete the second one with the same same team and truly establish the franchise. But as a movie fan, I would love to see other up-and-coming directors who can up the action ante."

Moreover, Joe Russo will return to write Extraction 2's script. The new film will also be made by AGBO, the production company run by Joe and Anthony Russo. According to reports, the AGBO team is planning to develop a shared cinematic universe akin to the MCU by continuing the Extraction series after the sequel.

During their Tudum event in September 2021, Netflix published a teaser trailer for Extraction 2, which you can view above. Beginning with a review of Rake's final moments, the video demonstrates how he was shot and fell into a river. Tyler, you drown not by falling into the river, but by remaining submerged in it, says Mahajan in a voiceover. And then, against all chances, Rake begins to swim to the surface while opening his eyes. Before we see a good trailer, we'll probably have to wait a little while more.
