Blockbuster would become a global empire with locations in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Norway, Peru and the UK. Can you even imagine a world where you would actually get in your car and drive to a store, spend 30 minutes walking the aisles then go home to watch the latest Hollywood release. Then they would charge you extra if you failed to rewind the tape or if you were late bringing the film back. Can you imagine? Those were simpler times. I had one VHS of Hot Shots 2 starring Charliee Sheen and we racked up $100's of dollars in late fees se we started renting at Jumbo Video instead. They gave out free popcorn! Much like the title of a the film The Perfect Storm so many factors came together at once to put a demise to Blockbuster Entertainment. Values at $4.6 Billion in 1997 the company only has one remaining store at the time of this recording. Them late fees became an achilles heel— also the uprise of Netflix. A company Blockbuster passed on buying back in the year 2000. Wait till you hear which their last ever rented film was – it's gonna blow your mind.
